The car's a Trabant, formerly the only car ordinary citizens in East Germany could get after many years on the waiting list and approval from their political overlords. I believe remaining examples are now something of a design icon in some quarters, although usually with a more modern and less-polluting engine fitted. Great blog, btw - only recently discovered :) .
Trabant, and not green but blue :) with Hungarian licence plate. if that all does not sound too familiar, you should come here and check it out! not only the girls are pretty in Hungary ;)
